The Nanning-Zhuhai High Speed Railway runs from Nanning in Guangxi to Zhuhai in Guangdong, covering about 648 kilometers, with a designed speed of 350 km/h. The Nanning-Yulin section, which opens this time, starts from Nanningdong Railway Station, passing through Nanning, Guigang and Yulin, and ends at Yulinbei Railway Station. The section is 193 kilometers long and has five stations: Nanningdong Railway Station, Luancheng Railway Station, Hengzhou Railway Station, Xingyenan Railway Station and Yulinbei Railway Station. Among these, Nanningdong Railway Station is an existing station, while the others are newly constructed.
The Nanning-Yulin section of the Nanning-Zhuhai High Speed Railway crosses multiple rivers, including the Yu River and Yong River, and features complex geological conditions, making construction challenging. The bridge-to-tunnel ratio along the route is as high as 85%. Since the project started in December 2019, all participating units and construction workers have demonstrated the spirit of "building roads through mountains and bridges over water." They have strengthened research, improved safety, quality and environmental protection measures, and efficiently advanced the project. A total of 125 bridges, including the Liulyu Yong River Railway Bridge, and 38 tunnels, including the Pingyue Tunnel, have been completed, ensuring the smooth construction of the project.
Before opening, the railway authority meticulously organized relevant units to implement various regulations and standards, carrying out integrated testing and commissioning, testing and safety evaluations of equipment. Comprehensive optimizations and adjustments were made to the track condition, pantograph-catenary performance, train control and communication signal systems. The line now meets the safety and stability requirements for high-speed rail operations and is ready for operation.
The Nanning-Yulin section of the Nanning-Zhuhai High Speed Railway will operate at a maximum speed of 350 km/h. In the initial stage of operation, the railway authority will schedule trains according to regular and peak timetables, with up to 16 trains running daily. Travel times from Nanningdong Railway Station to Hengzhou Railway Station and Xingyenan Railway Station will be 29 and 40 minutes, respectively. Nanningdong Railway Station to Yulinbei Railway Station will take 48 minutes, a reduction of 56 minutes compared to the route via the Nanning-Guangzhou Railway and Litang-Zhanjiang Railway. To meet different travel needs, the railway authority will implement a flexible discount and differentiated market-based pricing system for the section, providing more travel options for passengers. Specific fares can be checked on the Railway 12306 website.
The Nanning-Yulin section of the Nanning-Zhuhai High Speed Railway is an important part of the fast passenger transport corridor connecting the Beibu Gulf Economic Zone and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area. It connects to the Nanning railway hub at Nanningdong Railway Station and links to the under-construction Yulin-Cenxi section of the Nanning-Zhuhai High Speed Railway at Yulinbei Railway Station, making its position in the regional network highly significant. After the project is completed and operational, it will further improve the regional network layout, greatly facilitate travel for local residents, and play an important role in promoting regional economic and social development, enhancing connectivity, and driving high-quality development in the Beibu Gulf Economic Zone.
