On December 18, the Xining-Gyirong-Kathmandu road-rail intermodal freight train commenced operations, marking a significant step forward for the highland railway in building an international logistics network and opening a southern logistics corridor.

The Xining-Gyirong-Kathmandu road-rail intermodal train consists of 12 wagons, carrying 24 new energy vehicles, and departs from Shuangzhai Railway Freight Yard. The goods are transported by rail to Shigatse, Xizang, then by road through the Gyirong port, finally reaching Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, covering a total distance of over 2,800 kilometers.

In recent years, CR-Qingzang has leveraged its geographical advantages, operating 419 international freight trains to Europe, Southeast Asia, South Asia and Central Asia since 2016. These efforts have ensured smooth transport channels for regional import and export products, playing a crucial role in maintaining the security and stability of foreign trade supply chains.
